Childcare ideas for working parents

Being a parent alone is a full time job - now add a career into the mix. It’s hard work, right?

But having children doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your professional progress. In fact, there are plenty of options out there which allow you to enjoy your work life as normal, while ensuring your little ones are looked after!

In this blog, we share some childcare ideas for working parents in the UK.

Breakfast club

There’s nothing worse than running around in the morning, trying to get everyone up and ready just so you can get to work on time. Breakfast clubs can help mitigate this stress by allowing you to leave earlier for school, and guess what? You don’t need to make breakfast for your children either! Most schools run breakfast clubs at least half an hour before school starts, giving parents the chance to start their days that little bit earlier.

Nursery

Don’t forget that nursery is a free form of childcare for those aged 3-4 years old. You can find your nearest nursery by typing in your postcode here.

Hire a childminder

Whether you work weekends, or just need someone to pick up the kids every now and then, hiring a childminder can be extremely beneficial. For access to registered childminders in your local area, browse the government website.

Playdates

Take it in turns with the other parents at your child’s nursery/school to organise playdates. Make this work to your schedule so you can host on a day you’re working from home or have an early finish. In return, the other parents might be able to mind your child on a day where you need to be in.

After school curricular

From pottery making, to playing on the school football team, there are always a variety of exciting activities for your child to get involved with after school.

Family and friends

Sometimes it may be necessary to ask your nearest and dearest for a helping hand when it comes to childcare. Even if it’s just a one-off pick up from school, it’s always a good option to bear in mind.
