Flexible working for children’s social workers

A survey from Community Care has revealed that 78% of UK children’s services offer flexible working to social workers.

This was voted the most important benefit sought by social workers when looking for a new role.

What is flexible working?

Flexible working can be in the form of flexible hours (e.g. more autonomy over when you work), working from home or hybrid working.

In the data published, respondents said flexible hours was the most common flexible working option offered by employers (42%).

In addition, over 39% said they worked from home full-time (this figure has increased since the pandemic).

Free parking and paid overtime were also high on the list, despite fewer than half (47%) of children’s services offering these perks.

These findings were extracted from the answers provided for the Community Care’s annual Total Reward survey on pay and benefits.
