It’s that time of year again…that’s right - it’s time to renew your Social Work England registration. Carry on reading if you need a reminder on how to complete the process and what counts as relevant CPD.
When’s the deadline?
Social Work England (SWE) opened the registration renwal period on September 1st, and you have until November 30th to submit your application.
How do I apply?
To renew, start by logging into your SWE account. From here you will be able to renew your registration which overall, takes 20-30 minutes to complete. Once you reach the end of the online application, you will be asked to pay a £90 registration fee.
What if I’m new to social work?
Social work newbies can apply for registration with SWE as soon as your course provider confirms you have passed and Social Work England receive the official pass list.
Then you need to create an SWE account to get started.
CPD
During the process, you will be asked to upload your CPD for the year. Social Work England have shared separate guidance for this which you can find on their website.
It lists activities such as listening to podcasts, shadowing colleagues, attending training sessions and reflecting on any feedback you have received.
What happens if I forget to renew my registration?
If you forget to renew your SWE registration you will be removed from the register and will have to pay a late fee of £135 to re-apply.
